John L. Whitmire to Leave Transocean Ltd. Board of Directors

Transocean Ltd. (NYSE: RIG) (SIX: RIGN) announced today that JohnL. Whitmire has resigned from its Board of Directors, effectiveimmediately, for health reasons. Mr. Whitmire has served as adirector of the company since November 2007. He served as a directorof GlobalSantaFe Corporation from November 2001 until November 2007.Mr. Whitmire has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors ofCONSOL Energy Inc. since 1999, and was also Chairman of the Board andChief Executive Officer of Union Texas Petroleum Holding Inc. from1996 until its acquisition by ARCO in 1998.
