On July 8, 2008, Transocean became a member of the Corporate Eco Forum to further develop the company’s corporate responsibility strategy and engage in best practice discussions with companies outside the oil and gas industry sector.
The Corporate Eco Forum (CEF) is an invitation-only gathering of senior executives from Global 500 corporations that take Corporate and Environmental Responsibility seriously. The forum is based upon a concept that combines development research related to corporate environmental strategy, best practices that realize real-world benefits to the company and its employees and a chance to engage in open dialogue with an expanded group of world leading companies.
Transocean joins a group of companies that, among others, include Duke Energy, Coca Cola, Unilever, Microsoft, General Motors and Goldman Sachs. Membership spans many different sectors from software to finance to manufacturing. Transocean is the first member to join from the oil and gas sector.
Over the coming year Transocean will work with members of the group and group staff to drive collective understanding, implementation of eco strategies and tools, and stimulate innovation for mutual benefit. We look forward to watching this unique group grow.
