SUBSEA TRAINEE

 

REPORTING:

Reports to the Sub-Sea Trainee Development Manager

Functionally reports to the Senior Subsea Supervisor when offshore

 

SUPERVISION:

None

 

LOCATION:

Onshore training facilities and offshore locations

 

PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS:

·         High school diploma or equivalent

·         Technical background with formal training in mechanical and hydraulic power with electrical/electronics an advantage

·         Minimum of 4 years in a recognized mechanical, hydraulic or electrical position

·         Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates

·         Good computer skills

·         Knowledge of technical Engineering calculations

·         Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Sound knowledge of computer skills would be required

·         Job requires employee to work as part of a team to ensure continuity and success to achieve the team objectives

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

·         Sub-Sea Trainee is an intensive training program which focuses on rapid exposure to the safety, process and technical aspects of the Sub-Sea Supervisor’s discipline. This is accomplished by a combination of Transocean Internal training, 3rd party vendor training and rig based training. The Sub-Sea Trainee will be exposed to the basic knowledge and skills require to become an Assistant Sub-Sea Supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Personal Development:

·         Maintain flexibility with regards to work schedule

·         Participate in the annual performance appraisal process

·         Attend and actively participate in all training courses

·         Provide routine feedback to the Sub-Sea Trainee Development Manager

·         Provide written reports at the conclusion of each training course and send to the Sub-Sea Trainee Development Manager

·         Ensure hitch evaluation forms are completed, signed and submitted to the Sub-Sea Trainee Development Manager at the conclusion of each offshore rotation

·         Actively pursue OJT training compliance for Assistant Subsea position

·         Assume responsibility to maintain medical, survival and travel logistics and advise accordingly prior to any deficiencies

              

 

Operations/Maintenance:

·         Assist with maintaining the Blow Out Preventer (BOP), Diverter, and associated subsea equipment in accordance to the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) guidelines

·         Assist the Subsea Supervisor in the running and recovery of the BOP and Marine Riser equipment

·         Assist in assembly and installation of the BOP and all well control equipment as required

·         Assist in operating, maintenance and repair of subsea BOP control system Assist in operating and servicing the bridge cranes and related hoisting equipment

·         Assist in servicing and testing the riser and diverter systems.

·         Assist in running and testing the wellhead, casing hangers and seal assemblies

·         Assist in monitoring and maintaining the riser tensioner, guidelines and pod line tensioners

·         Assist in maintaining accurate daily log sheets relevant to the subsea equipment

·         Assist in maintaining records of inspection and certification of subsea equipment

·         Assist the Sub-Sea Supervisor with maintaining inventory requirements

·         Assist in communicating equipment problems or breakdown with Field Support group and equipment vendor.

                 

QHSE:

·         Carry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to Company policies and procedures

·         Incorporate the THINK process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team

·         Participate in the START process

·         Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre job meetings as required

·         Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to supervisor and other department heads

·         Respond to emergency situations as per designation on station bill

·         Comply with the permit to work and isolation processes

·         Ensure all relevant safety procedures and practices are adhered to at all times

·         Assist in ensuring a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig

·         Complete rig based safety OJT as a priority.
