"Our operations will be conducted in an incident free workplace,
all the time everywhere".
This vision covers all of our 140 drilling installations, plus our offices and shore based facilities worldwide. Achieving such a vision in a company with over 20,000 employees, spanning 20 different countries, with numerous nationalities and cultures is not an easy task, but it is an achievable task.
In 1958 the Offshore Company, a legacy company of Transocean had an incident frequency rate of 28.93 and at that time it was considered worthy of being reported as an important safety milestone in the company magazine. The drilling industry as a whole has come a long way since 1958 but the challenges still remain the same and the job still remains as complex. Now more than ever as companies regularly achieve total recordable incident rates below 1.00 we are faced with the challenge of making the next breakthrough in health, safety and environmental performance.
At Transocean we firmly believe that the safety of our people is fundamental to the success of our company and as such we have defined a program to take QHSE Leadership to another level. Through a series of training programs, innovative training tools and dedicated people we have put together a comprehensive program that actively brings all elements of QHSE together, recognizing that an incident free workplace does not come through a focus entirely on safety, but on all the elements of QHSE and most importantly a focus on our people
