Safety

"Our operations will be conducted in an incident-free workplace,
all the time, everywhere."

At Transocean, we firmly believe that the safety of people underpins our success. Our safety vision above covers all our drilling units and shore-based facilities worldwide.  Achieving such a vision in a company with more than 21,000 employees, spanning 20-plus countries, with numerous nationalities and cultures is not an easy task, but we know it is achievable.

Consider that in 1958 the Offshore Company, a predecessor of Transocean, had an incident frequency rate of 28.93 incidents per 200,000 hours worked, which at that time was considered an important safety milestone.  The drilling industry as a whole has come a long way since 1958 with Transocean and other drilling contractors reporting total recordable incident rates below 1.00 -- despite more complex operational challenges associated with deepwater and harsh-environments. Now, we are facing the challenge of making the next breakthrough in health, safety and environmental performance: an incident-free workplace.

To accomplish this, Transocean has developed comprehensive training and mentoring programs to complement our innovative safety tools and processes which our dedicated team uses to bring all the QHSE elements together. After all, we recognize that an incident-free workplace does not come through a focus solely on safety, but from all the elements of QHSE and most importantly from our people
