RIG SAFETY TRAINING COORDINATOR – 6TH GENERATION
REPORTING:
Offshore Installation Manager
Functional report to the Division QHSE Manager
SUPERVISION:
Trainee RSTC as applicable
LOCATION:
Offshore location
PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· 1 year work experience on an offshore installation. Consideration shall be given to candidates with QHSE experience in associated industries
· Proficiency in written and spoken English with the ability to communicate effectively with non-English and English speaking crews on issues related to QHSE
· Basic computer skills
Grade I
· Successful completion of the company RSTC assessment and have QHSE Manager’s approval
Grade II
· A minimum of 12 months in the position of RSTC I
· Completion of all required training according to the Worldwide Training Matrix
· Recommendation by OIM/Rig Manager and local QHSE Manager supported by recent appraisal
Grade III
· A minimum of 24 months as RSTC II
· Completion of all required training according to the Worldwide Training Matrix
· Recommendation by OIM/Rig Manager and local QHSE Manager supported by recent appraisal
· To be recognized on a succession plan of being capable of promotion above RSTC
· Approved by Division QHSE Manager
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
· Assist in the continued development of the HSE culture while actively supporting the safety vision of an incident free workplace, all the time, everywhere
· This role shall incorporate mentoring, coaching and monitoring the development of personnel though the administration and coordination of installation-based training.
BASIC FUNCTION:
· Assist and coach rig-based personnel in the implementation and understanding of the Company Management System
· Act as installation subject matter expert (SME) for the Company HSE management system and training requirements
· Provide a communication link between QHSE & Training organizations and the offshore workforce
· Assist in the implementation of the company goals and objectives through liaison with QHSE Management
Safety:
· Incorporate the THINK planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team
· Participate in START Process
· Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observed
· Carry out assigned duties in a safe manner according to Company policies and procedures
· Have a working knowledge of Transocean’s Health and Safety expectations as defined in the Company Management System
· Advise and actively assist personnel in the application of company safe working practices
· Promote, participate and coach personnel in the application of the THINK planning process, using the rules of task planning
· Actively monitor the FOCUS process and raise identified issues with the OIM
· Monitor, coach and advise on the Permit to Work system
· Monitor, coach and advise on the Management of Change process
· Assist supervisors with the planning and development of HSE Meetings
· Participate in daily meetings with the OIM, Department Heads and Client Representative as required
· Assist the OIM in incident investigations
· Continually review the Company Management System to identify opportunities for improvement
· Conduct periodic self assessment audits to ensure compliance with company procedures
Training:
· Coordinate and administer On-the-Job Training (OJT) System
· Use the systems available to book and administer onshore and offshore training for rig-based personnel
· Maintain and update rig personnel’s training records
· Maintain and update the installation-specific training matrix and monitor for compliance
· Monitor compliance of HSE orientation and induction for all personnel
· Conduct rig-based HSE training courses according to the training matrix
· Conduct training on the HSE Management System structure and requirements
· Update and maintain HSE and Training bulletin board(s)
Environmental:
· Have a working knowledge of Transocean’s Environmental Management System (EMS)
· Monitor and assist the ‘Green Team’ in meeting their objectives as defined within the EMS
· Assist the OIM in the investigation of Environmental Incidents
· Assist the OIM in the planning and preparation of ‘Green Team’ meetings
· Participate in internal audits on the installation to ensure compliance with Transocean’s EMS and Client-specific requirements
Personnel:
· Meet the training requirements according to the applicable training matrix
· Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process
· Supervise and train the Trainee RSTC (where applicable)
· Promote and maintain an effective working relationship and communication with other departments |
