ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS SUPERVISOR – 6TH GENERATION

 

 

REFFERAL PROGRAM ELIGIBLE

 

REPORTING:

Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, Chief Engineer or Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)

 

SUPERVISION:

Supervises the Chief Electrician, Electrician, Electronics Technician

 

LOCATION:

Offshore location

 

PREREQUISITES / QUALIFICATIONS:

·         High school diploma or equivalent.

·         Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates

·         Knowledge of all technical calculations required for electrical operation of the drilling unit and basic computer skills

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

Supervise the maintenance and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment onboard the vessel

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Operations/Maintenance:

·         Ensure daily completion of inspections and maintenance on electrical/electronic equipment

·         Enforce the permit to work and isolation system within the electrical/electronic department

·         Ensure the proper implementation of the Rig Maintenance System (RMS)

·         Ensure that the Technical Support Center (TSC) is advised of electrical issues as required

·         Supervise the operation and service of power generation equipment, i.e., generators and engine controls, SCRs, switchgears, transformers, power distribution, etc.

·         Supervise the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of general rig equipment such as HVAC system, refrigeration plants, power and communication systems, etc.

·         Supervise the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical components of drilling equipment, i.e., DC drilling motors and auxiliaries, Top Drive System, mud pumps, etc.

·         Supervise the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems including dynamic positioning, communication, data acquisition, computers and navigational equipment

·         Supervise the maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems including, but not limited to, Subsea BOP controls and drilling package instrumentation and electronics

·         Ensure that all installation, calibration, and modification to electronic systems and components are properly carried out

·         Provide technical support, domestic and industrial electronic services to all areas of the rig

·         Implement the outstanding recommendations from audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities or rig management

·         Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete

·         Assist the Maintenance Supervisor/Chief Engineer in supplying information for maintenance and repair budget

·         Communicate equipment problems or breakdown with Field Support group and equipment vendor

·         Plan periodic maintenance according to the RMS guidelines and coordinate same with supervisor and other department heads

·         Ensure that an adequate supply of spares is maintained onboard to fulfill maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation

·          Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to Field Support Group

 

QHSE:

·         Incorporate the THINK planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team

·         Participate fully in the START Process

·         Ensure subordinate personnel are properly trained in the START process

·         Call a Time Out for Safety (TOFS) whenever an unplanned hazard or a change in the expected results is observed

·         Demonstrate commitment to Company safety policies through leadership and guidance

·         Actively participate in weekly safety meetings and pre-tour meetings as required

·         Report any incidents, potential hazards or abnormal situations to the Maintenance Supervisor/Chief Engineer and other department heads

·         Ensure a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig

 

Personnel:

·         Meets the training requirements of the applicable training matrix

·         Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process

·         Mentor, develop and train crew members to ensure they are competent to work at their next job level

·         Ensure that all subordinates have the necessary skills and experience to fulfill their assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner.

·         Recommended promotion or disciplinary action up to and including discharge

·         Supervise and guide crew members in their On-the-Job Training (OJT) program.

·         Maintain discipline onboard and ensure compliance with Company disciplinary procedures
