The Discoverer Clear Leader, the first of Transocean's five enhanced Enterprise-class newbuild drillships, has left the DSME shipyard in South Korea for the U.S. Gulf of Mexico after stops in Singpapore and Durban.
Designed to drill wells 40,000 feet deep, including 12,000 feet of water depth, the Discoverer Clear Leader has a five-year contract with Chevron after mobilization and customer acceptance.
The rig is the first Transocean's 10 newbuild, ultra-deepwater units to leave a shipyard.
